Our Story
Quantera began in the Sacks lab at Cornell, when the wildfires of 2020 sent a flood of samples through the door. Running them one at a time with research methods showed us firsthand the real-world impacts that trace-level testing has. In this case it was the lives disrupted by fire. But the chemical composition of virtually everything made, harvested, or touched by humans has direct and personal impacts.
One thing quickly became clear:
Mass spectrometry had become a jet engine, but sample prep kept it parked at the gate.
The rapid method we developed in that lab proved the power of planar extraction geometry. We built on it with a cartridge-based design that scales and opens the door to new sorbents and use cases.
The science may be complex, but even as we scale across industries we are always driven by the same simple instinct: if we know what’s in it, we can make it, and the communities we live in, better.
